Bobby is a Wichita local who grew up in Clearwater, FL. But somehow, Wichita kept calling him back. Bobby was busy running a towing company, always full of big ideas and even bigger energy.
Then one day, Bobby tossed out an idea: “What if we opened a bar?” And, he set out to create a cocktail lounge that feels upscale but never stuffy. Something fresh, relaxing, and totally Wichita.
Bobby picked the spot on East Douglas for its charm and potential. It’s a block he wants to help “level up,” nestled among some of the city’s best local spots. The bar’s brick walls, soft drapery, and mix of seating all invite you to slow down, stay awhile, and make the night yours.
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill bar. I built a space made by locals, for locals. So whether you’re popping in for a quick drink or settling in for the evening, I want you to feel right at home, no rush, no noise, just good company and even better cocktails.
Sure, Wichita has bars, plenty of them. But we didn’t set out to build “just another place to drink.” The James & Rye is about a unique experience.
